How To Choose The Right Flower Girl For Your Wedding

Getting married is serious business; planning a wedding however, that's even more serious, at least for the bride. There are a number of factors that a bride must consider when she is planning her wedding. But one of the key factors is the choice of flower girls. Flower girls add so much to a wedding ceremony but can be a real pain; so the following are some tips for choosing the right flower girl for your wedding.

The first set of criteria you should look at is the relationship of the potential flower girl to you. Of course you want to first look for girls under the age of 8 in your own family. Perhaps you have a niece, a godchild, a much younger sister, or a first cousin who would be ideal for your flower girl. If you do not have a young girl in your immediate family, then you may want to turn to your groom, who may have a niece or a much younger sister or cousin. Finally, if your groom doesn't have any young girls in his family, you may want to ask a friend of the family who has a daughter.

Next, you should consider the age of the child. Age has a lot to do with a child's ability to follow instructions and do as they are told. You do not want, for example, a 3 year old who has a hard time following instructions. It is not to say that the child is bad, but at three years old, focus is very limited. You want ideally someone between the ages of 4 and 7. At these ages kids are able to comprehend and act accordingly.

While age is a big factor on a child's ability to follow instructions, so is upbringing. So look at a child's mannerisms and behavior in general. You want a well behaved child who is not going to cry walking down the aisle or take off running at the first sight of her mother. You also don't want a child who is going to steal the attention away from you on your big day. This is why it is usually best to pick a child who is closely related to you; that way if you have any problems you won't need to ask permission to take matters into your own hands.

Finally, you want to make sure that the child is cute. Cute children make the best wedding attendants. Although every child is not cute, every child can be made to look cute with the right clothes, the right hair style, and the right smile.

Getting married is serious business and so is planning a wedding. Start looking today for your flower girl; you want a child who is going to take their job almost as seriously as you are going to take your wedding. If you take your time and think it through, you won't be sorry on your wedding day; and that's a promise
